Pivovar Svijany

The Svijany Brewery is located in the southern corner of the Liberec district and, founded in 1564, belongs to the oldest breweries in the Czech Republic. The proof of very rich history of this brewery from the foundation till the end of WWII are the names of its owners: Jaroslav z Vartenberka, Jáchym Ondřej Šlik, family of Valdštejn, Rohan, etc. The era of socialism was not friendly for development of the brewery, as well as the first year after the revolution when the brewery was always a part of some bigger companies. However, in May 1998 the situation changed. The new-founded company Pivovar Svijany s.r.o. bought the brewery and raised it to the level of significant regional brewery. The SVIJANY trademark represents traditional, pure-Czech beer produced out of quality water from own wells, malt from selected breeds malting barley with addition of the most delicate hops from Žatec. The production is performed using modern equipment, however, with classical technological procedure with two-phase long-term fermentation in stock cellars at low temperature. The beer from Svijany is not chemically treated and is supplied non-pasteurized in so called “live” shape. We offer excursions for 15–40 people after prior arrangement. Lodging at all levels is available in Turnov (5 minutes by car) or in Jablonec nad Nisou and Liberec (20 minutes by car).
