Měšťanský pivovar v Poličce, a.s.

In 1517 A.D., the right to brew up was awarded by Municipal Congress of the Czech Kingdom to the owners of 113 citizen houses inside the walls of the imperial dot town Polička. In 1771, their descendants took the production to the brewery house No. 18 with the malting house No. 15 at southern walls. Later, because of growing popularity of beer, the capacity was insufficient, so in 1865, new brewery with large stock cellars in arenaceous marl was built. In 1994, the Polička Brewery was transformed to the “Měšťanský pivovar v Poličce, a.s.” We have copper double brewhouse outfit Novák & Jahn from 1930, the fermenting cellars are water-cooled. The stock cellars and tanks are original. We brew up from our water and hops from Žatec that is always a bit stronger then you’d expect. The brewery is well-known with its lagers that cover more than 80 % of production. We don’t pasteurize bottled beer at all. Part of the beer production is put out as barrelled non-filtered and non-pasteurized. From 1994, our beers are called “Hradební 10° light”, “Hradební 10° dark”, “Otakar 11° light lager” a “Záviš 12 ° light lager”. The brewery is 300 meters far from the center of Polička. 200 meters away is another town center with Gothic church of St.James and the PIVOVAR Hotel. The PIVOVAR Hotel was rebuilt from original Gothic estate to Renaissance shape. There are three restaurants available for tired and beer-refreshed guests in the PIVOVAR Hotel, 12 rooms in the EUROKOMFORT class (apartment with 4 beds in two rooms and 10 double-beds) and 6 double-bed rooms in TURISTCLASS.
